| Strong run from BRM doing QLD double duty |
 |
(24/8/2009 at 10:44:29 PM) TEAM BRM has had a competitive weekend at Queensland Raceway racing in two categories, with promising results in each.
The team proved its adaptability by successfully running strong campaigns in both the Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship and the Ford Genuine Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship at the weekend.
In the wings and slicks open wheelers driver Joey Foster scored one pole position and a pair of second-place finishes to continue to lead the championship, though his season long rival Tim Macrow also has a share of the lead after taking two wins.
Foster raced toe-to-toe with Macrow in race one, often side by side and at time squeezed enough to have to take to the dirt – but was unable to get past and therefore settled for second place after a tough fight.
Foster also finished second in race two to ensure that the battle will be well and truly alive for the next two, final, rounds.
In Formula Ford Martin Short filled in for the absent Richie Stanaway and did an admirable job in his first drive with Team BRM, qualifying 13th (though just one second from pole) and finishing the three races in 8th, 6th and 15th, respectively.
South Aussie Jordan Skinner started 17th and continued to show forward progress by finishing the first two races in 12th and 14th before being sidelined in race three.
Team BRM will now face a one-week turnaround before the next Formula 3 round, to be held at Sydney’s Oran Park.
