| One-Two punch for Team BRM at Clipsal |
 |
(25/3/2009) Team BRM have begun 2009 in the way they ended the 2008 Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship – on top of the winners rostrum.
But not content with merely winning both races, scoring both pole positions and both fastest laps at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide last weekend, the team has added to the success by posting a 1-2 finish as well. The team was also presented with the inaugural Meguiar’s Best Presented award, recognising the teams investment in uniforms, pit area presentation and overall team presentation.
New signings Joey Foster and Mathew Radisich finished 1-2 in the first race of the 2009 championship and sit in those same positions in the series points standings to boot.
Foster was the first driver since August 2005 to score a ‘perfect’ round in Australian F3, by virtue of scoring every point available in the course of the weekend. On his first visit to Australian soil the driver from Cornwall stunned the establishment and made the best use of his #5 Team BRM Dallara F307 Mercedes to sweep the weekend.
Driving the #3 car supported by HT Leads, DBA and No Fear, Mat Radisich was able to post his career best F3 results after finishing second in race one, and backing it up with fourth in race two.
The young Melbourne-based Kiwi improved with every session and shadowed his team mate throughout the weekend. As a result he sits second in the title race with 25 points to his name.
As well as their commanding performance, Team BRM was pleased to support Scud Racing following an accident in Saturday’s race. Driver Tim Macrow made contact with a wall and damaged the engine mounts. Without spares, Team BRM loaned Scud Racing a complete engine, gearbox and rear suspension assembly to ensure that Macrow would make the Sunday start – where he would finish second.
Despite the success in Adelaide, Team BRM now face a quick turnaround and a trip to Melbourne for the 2009 Formula 1(TM) ING Australian Grand Prix, and the first round of the 2009 Australian Formula Ford Championship.
The team has entered three Mygale SJO9 chassis for drivers Ben Small, Richie Stanaway and Jordan Skinner.
Team BRM has had prior success on the Albert Park street circuit in Formula 3, both with Barton Mawer and Bruno Senna.

Joey Foster - #5 Team BRM Dallara F307 Mercedes Benz
“It’s been an absolutely perfect start. From the moment I turned up and got in the car it has been perfect. We have had to make a few alterations just to keep up with the changing conditions but apart from that it’s been basically trouble free.
“I had no idea where I would be. I’d never driven a street track before – LeMans is so different – so I just didn’t know what to expect. Once I’d done that first practice and I knew we were competitive we had an idea we would be on the money.
“Everyone was strong this weekend. I’ve got to go out and learn all the tracks this year which is going to be a challenge and a half. I’m sure that guys like Tim and Mat will put up a huge challenge. I can’t wait.”
Mathew Radisich - #3 HT Leads / DBA / No Fear Dallara F307 Mercedes Benz
“My first weekend with Team BRM has been a fantastic one. The team has worked really well and I’m so pleased with my results this weekend. It was great to get second place in the first race on Saturday as I was under strict instructions to bring the car home and get to the flag. I achieved that and had a fantastic race – really good fun.
“It was great to be able to give Team BRM a 1-2 finish at their home event.”
Mark Rundle – Team Manager
“We could not have asked for a better start to the 2009 Championship. Both drivers did a superb job. Joey has shown what he is truly capable of and Mat continued to show why he has the talent and ability to do the job and be very successful.
“The team has worked exceptionally hard to prepare the cars and they worked hard all weekend to keep them in peak condition and ensure they were the quickest out there.
“As a team we were only too happy to help out Scud Racing and Tim Macrow to get back out on track after their race one crash. It was important for the category to have Tim there and competitive, and in the end, we’re here because we want to race. We welcome the added competition he provides.
“The team has a logistically challenging week with the swap over from Formula 3 to Formula Ford but we are excited about heading to Melbourne and racing at the Grand Prix. I know Richie, Ben and Jordan are very fired up for the first round of Formula Ford, and so are we.”
